Sharlene is a UK-based teacher and writer with over 12 years’ experience in teaching and tutoring.
After graduating from the University of Southampton with a degree in English and French, she went on to work in PR before moving into education. With experience in the UK, France and Spain, she has worked with students of every age and level. She has also led professional development programmes for educators, written a GCSE home-schooling course, and self-published a successful teaching resource book: Talking Images: Idioms. Currently, Sharlene creates and presents online video resources and graded readers for learners across the world as well as writing biographies. As a mum of one, she enjoys exploring the world at toddler-pace with her daughter, making an artful mess in the kitchen and learning new languages.
Born in Sweden and raised in the UK, Amelia is an ESL teacher and freelance writer. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism with creative writing and was working as an online editor in London until 2018, when she did a 180 and studied for her TEFL to become an ESL teacher and hasn’t looked back since. Now living in Morocco, she teaches English online, writes, and tries to experience as many charming Moroccan cities and sights as she can, sipping mint tea along the way! She loves books, coffee, anything that sparkles and the last line of a poem.
As well as teaching English at a secondary school, Guy has also lectured on rhetoric and speechwriting at a range of world-leading universities. Before transitioning into education, Guy worked as a Speechwriter in the British Houses of Parliament as well as for a range of European civil services. In 2019, he gave a TEDxTalk at the University of Cambridge where he has just completed his second postgraduate degree. Guy Loves Star Wars and Marvel (and all things nerdy). He is a huge fan of VanLife and, when he has the time, takes his tiny little van on adventures around the UK!
Our learning expert Natalie has a Master's degree in Education from the University of Cambridge. She has previously studied and worked in Manchester, Amsterdam, London, and Mumbai and currently teaches UK students aged 11-18. She is well-versed in the National Curriculum, the International Baccalaureate as well as mental health and pastoral development in young people. She likes to be outside and take photographs in her spare time.
Joseph is a teacher and writer originally from Ireland, but now based in Spain. He has given classes to students from all over the world and has also worked as a rickshaw driver, bicycle mechanic, journalist, videographer, and producer. Joseph is on a never-ending quest to find out more about the world and believes the reason we learn is to pass our experience on to the next generation. He loves travel, animals, and has a love/hate relationship with technology.
Clarissa is originally from the UK but moved to Australia with her family when she was 10. She studied Communications at the University of Queensland and has been writing ever since. An avid traveller and restless wanderer, she now resides in Spain where she worked as an English teacher for two years as well as a freelance writer. Now, Clarissa solely focuses on writing where she can work from any location as long as her trusted laptop is with her. When she’s not writing, she is at the beach, riding her bike, or curled up on the sofa with a good book.
Lucy has taught English for fifteen years. She graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in the History of Art and Italian before spending time abroad in Japan and Italy. During her five years in London, she worked as a researcher at the Guinness Book of Records, a Production Assistant at a subtitling company and in HR at the Japanese Embassy. She writes for Oxford University Press and Macmillan, and has self-published a teacher resource book: Talking Images: idioms. Now, living in Oxford with her dog and three children, she’s into running, drawing, travelling and all things Japanese.

She holds a Masters degree from The University of Edinburgh and has long experience in teaching languages to both children and adults. Connie is a British copywriter and independent artist. She spent her childhood in the UK before travelling and teaching in East Asia and now lives in beautiful Vienna with her husband and boston terrier. With a first class degree in contemporary performance, she believes that creativity and play are integral to a successful education and indeed a happy life. She spends her free time in galleries, up mountains, wandering in the wild and slurping coffee with close friends.

Alexia is from the UK and moved to China after graduating from studying Law in England.

After spending two years in the UK, she sought out sunnier skies in Lisbon, where she currently resides. Erin is a freelance writer and editor based in Heidelberg, Germany. Originally from Canada, she studied journalism and media theory at Carleton University and Simon Fraser University. Erin spent seven years living in the UK, where she worked at Southbank Centre, one of the world’s largest arts centres, helping artists and performers communicate their work to large audiences. Martina is Italian and studied History of Art at La Sapienza University in Rome. She worked in London as a tour guide and as an educational operator for educational, artistic and scientific workshops for primary and secondary school students. He now works for the Italian Ministry of Culture and as an English teacher for students of all ages. She spends her free time visiting museums and exhibitions or walking in parks.
