The world 🌎 is changing faster than ever before, and innovative technologies like Virtual Reality (VR) have found their way not only into the gaming industry but also into education. Challenges in Language Learning

Learning a foreign language like Spanish can be a challenge, especially for students in the UK, where language learning is often done in English. 

The British Council Language Trends 2020 Survey found that “Global English appears to be a threat to, as opposed to a motivator for, uptake of languages at secondary.” Pronunciation, listening comprehension, and self-confidence in speaking are common challenges students face. Moreover, traditional classroom teaching often cannot cater individually to the needs of each student.

Creating a motivating learning environment that piques students' interests and encourages them to actively engage with the language is crucial. 

Technology in Education

The GoStudent report on the future of education clearly indicates that Generation Z and Alpha have a forward-looking attitude and recognise the potential of technology for education, with 69% of children believing that technology facilitates learning and fosters creativity*. 👩‍⚕️🧑‍💻

Almost two-thirds believe that education is more enjoyable when technology is involved*. This aspect should not be underestimated, as students who find joy in learning automatically learn more easily and are much more motivated. Furthermore, 38% of the surveyed children are convinced that by 2050, learning will increasingly involve gamification 🎮*.

Spanish is set to become the most popular A-level language in England and is forecasted to overtake French as the most popular language at GCSE by 2026, so we think it’s the perfect language to trial here in the UK, preparing future generations with this innovative learning practice.

Parkwood Academy in Sheffield is the first school in the UK to test the new platform.
