How old do you have to be to have a Facebook account?

To start, we should inform you that children under the age of 13 cannot have a Facebook account. Facebook respects the laws in all countries and requires children to be at least 13 years of age before they can have their own account. 🚫

So, why does Facebook have an age limit? Well, Facebook does not want children to have the capabilities of creating an online account because there are dangers online that children don’t know how to handle. 😕

Bullying online is a big reason. Unfortunately, children remain vulnerable and unaware of how cyberbullying on a public platform can psychologically affect them, so keeping your child on a monitored platform is the safest alternative. 👌

Another reason age limitations exist is because children may be unaware of the importance of keeping private information private. Sensitive information such as name, birthdate and address can all be exposed to the wrong person if children are unaware of privacy settings and how to use them. 🔞

In order to keep your child or teenager safe online, it’s important that you have regular conversations with them about online safety

Can children under the age of 13 have an account?
